for "Pierrot" quintet and Narrator

The Musa prize, having a monetary value of 3,000 euros, was awarded to this young composer from Porto for his composition “Um Adeus aos Deuses” (“A Goodbye to the Gods”) for narrator and ‘Pierrot ensemble’. It pays homage to Ruben A. — pseudonym of the Portuguese writer, novelist, essayist and historian Ruben Alfredo Andresen Leitão — and was based upon his homonymous work.

The piece “À Toa”, composed by Miguel Resende Bastos, has won the 10th International Composition Competition of Póvoa de Varzim, as part of the 39th edition of the International Music Festival of Póvoa de Varzim.

Five composers were selected for the first round of sessions in Amsterdam, 25 and 26 November 2016, working with coaches Ensemble Aedes, James Wood and Leo Samama. Three composers: Miguel Bastos, Lillie Harris and Sarah Lianne Lewis were invited to come to Mechelen, 12-14 May 2017, for a second round working with Helsinki kamarikuoro.
